TomTom to Provide Live Services to Renault Cars
At the Paris Motor Show TomTom and Renault have shown their first fully connected navigation system for car monitors, TomTom LIVE Carminat. These services will include Traffic HD, speedcam information, weather and local search
Carminat TomTom LIVE comes with a three month free trial, then costs €59.95 per year via an online subscription. A three year subscription model will also be offered for €149 starting in 2011 from local Renault dealerships. The service will initially be available in France, Germany, UK, Italy, Spain, The Netherlands and Portugal.
The first cars to be offered the Carminat TomTom LIVE will be the Latitude, Laguna and Espace, to be followed by the Megane and other models in 2011.
Although the Carminat TomTom solution was said to be a success with 40 percent take rate, TomTom and Renault confirmed it in providing sales figures today, stating that since its launch in March 2009 over 500,000 units have been sold.
In the future, Renault and TomTom will also offer existing TomTom Carminat users an upgrade path to the Live version.
Mazda Selects TomTom for in-Dash Connected Nav
TomTom today announced that it will supply Mazda Motor Corporation with a connected in-dash multi media and navigation solution, developed in cooperation with SANYO that will bring its infotainment experetise to the solution.
The in-dash product - that includes TomTom LIVE Services - will be offered by Mazda as an option on its new Mazda5 in Europe.
New Audi A1 Nav Powered by Elektrobit
The head unit of the new Audi A1 will get navigation and speech dialog software from Elektrobit (EB) said the embedded solution provider today.
The navigation software is based on EB street director and the speech dialog system is made of the EB GUIDE Speech Target Framework (STF), both are integrated into a head unit designed by Delphi.
The system offers radio, navigation, and connectivity functionality.
